Reinaldo Teixeira, the current President of Liga Portugal, has been formally recognized in his native region, the Algarve. During the 15th edition of the Algarve Football and Futsal Festival, an event hosted by the Algarve Football Association, Mr. Teixeira received an Honourable Mention.
This year`s festival, notably held for the first time in Castro Marim, served as the setting for this significant distinction. The recognition highlights Reinaldo Teixeira`s unique position as the first person from the Algarve region to ascend to the presidency of Portuguese professional football`s governing body, Liga Portugal.
Accepting the award, Mr. Teixeira expressed his profound honour and the weight of responsibility that accompanies such a recognition. He noted that the distinction resonates deeply, not only on a personal level but also for its significance to the entire Algarve community.
He took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the colleagues who supported him throughout his 21 years serving within the Algarve Football Association, as well as the clubs and municipalities across the region. Reflecting on his origins, he pointedly remarked, “Football starts at the grassroots level, in schools and local clubs, and that`s where I learned the essentials.” It`s a sentiment that underscores the journey from local pitches to national leadership.
Mr. Teixeira affirmed his commitment to governing the vast universe represented by Liga Portugal with the very same core values, principles, impartiality, and determination that guided him in his earlier career. His stated goal is to collaborate effectively with others to implement projects that will continue to elevate and dignify Portuguese football as a whole.
The annual Algarve Football and Futsal Festival itself serves as a vital event for the region, dedicated to celebrating and distinguishing clubs and individuals who have demonstrated excellence over the past season. It functions as a platform for recognizing dedication and fostering the continued growth of sport within the Algarve.
Mr. Teixeira`s honour at this regional gathering underscores the strong connection between local football development and the individuals who rise to shape the sport at a national level. It`s a reminder that the roots of the game often lie in the communities that first nurture its players and administrators.
