Midfielder Jordan Veretout (32) has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Qatari club Al-Arabi SC. However, reports indicate that Al-Arabi is unwilling to pay a transfer fee to Lyon for the player.
Veretout signed for Lyon from Olympique de Marseille last September in a transfer valued at €4 million. He was a key player for Les Gones, featuring in 38 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Despite his significant contribution to Lyon`s sixth-place finish in Ligue 1 and their progress in the Europa League, Veretout`s future at the club is uncertain. Lyon faces financial difficulties and is awaiting the outcome of an appeal against potential administrative relegation to Ligue 2, which may necessitate player sales.
While Veretout has agreed to the move, Al-Arabi appears to be attempting to capitalize on Lyon`s precarious financial situation and acquire the midfielder on a free transfer. Lyon is reportedly open to selling Veretout but is insisting on receiving a transfer fee.
