Atalanta appears to have won the race against AC Milan to sign promising Genoa player Honest Ahanor. An agreement is reportedly nearing completion for a deal worth €15 million upfront, plus an additional €5 million in performance-based add-ons.
Despite being just 17 years old and having made only six Serie A appearances since coming through Genoa`s youth system, his performances have been impactful enough to justify the €20 million valuation.
Both Atalanta and Milan had identified him as a potential replacement for departing players. Atalanta are set to lose Matteo Ruggeri to Atletico Madrid, while Milan are preparing for the likely transfer of Theo Hernandez to Al-Hilal.
Atalanta Secures Ahanor Deal

According to Sky Sport Italia, Atalanta`s offer has been accepted by Genoa. The package includes a fixed fee of €15 million, supplemented by up to €5 million in bonuses contingent on player performance.
Consequently, AC Milan will need to search for alternative options to fill the void left by Theo Hernandez on the left flank of their defence.
Ahanor, who turned 17 in February, was born in Italy to Nigerian parents and acquired Italian citizenship in 2023.
He has yet to represent Italy at any youth international level.
