Reports from L`Équipe indicate that Manchester City have reached an agreement with Olympique Lyonnais for the transfer of 21-year-old Rayan Cherki.
The Premier League club is said to have increased its initial bid of €23.5 million, although the precise figure has not been disclosed. Earlier reports had suggested Lyon were seeking between €35 million and €40 million for the creative midfielder.
The French international was reportedly eager to move to Manchester City. Following the finalization of minor details, he is expected to sign a contract keeping him in England until 2030. Cherki, a versatile midfielder capable of playing on the wing, was a priority signing for City as they aim to regain their top position in the Premier League after a challenging season.
Cherki is expected to be available to feature for Manchester City in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup later this month.
