Agent: Gimenez ‘Wanted to Live in Italy’, Joined Milan

Football News

Prominent football agent Rafaela Pimenta asserts that Italy`s Serie A league remains attractive to players. She disclosed that her client, Santiago Gimenez, specifically desired to reside in Italy, which heavily influenced his decision to transfer to AC Milan during the winter transfer window.

Pimenta elaborated on Serie A`s appeal, telling ANSA, “Its attraction stems from both the playing style and the quality of life.”

“It feels very human in an industry increasingly dominated by commercial interests,” she continued. “Gimenez, for instance, received multiple offers but opted for Milan primarily because living in Italy was his strong desire.”

Gimenez made a permanent move to Milan from Feyenoord in the 2025 winter window, in a deal reportedly worth €32 million.

The Mexican international forward has scored six goals in 19 appearances for the Rossoneri. The club is reportedly now searching for another central striker to provide competition for Gimenez starting next season. His current contract at San Siro runs until 2029.

Shifting topics, Pimenta also commented on the potential impact of the Club World Cup on the transfer market. “I`ve spent the past couple of weeks in the USA for this tournament, and we agents are collectively pondering the potential changes and market impact it will bring,” she mentioned.

“The presence of the Club World Cup has effectively kickstarted the transfer market about six weeks early,” she noted. “Similar to a traditional World Cup, everyone is watching to see if any standout players emerge.”

She highlighted the significant prize money available to participating clubs, anticipating increased investment during the upcoming summer transfer window. “This money flows directly to the clubs like a cascade, but spending it wisely is crucial,” she remarked.

“I anticipate seeing more investment,” she stated. “While clubs are undoubtedly more strategic in their planning now, the elements of passion and excitement remain vital in football.”

Pimenta`s roster of notable clients includes players like Erling Haaland, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Paul Pogba.
