AC Milan has officially announced the separation from head coach Sergio Conceicao, effective after just six months at the helm. This development coincides with reports that Massimiliano Allegri has signed a new contract to take over.
Conceicao originally took charge on December 30th, succeeding Paulo Fonseca. His contract was set to run until June 2026, but it included a specific clause allowing the Rossoneri to terminate the agreement in June 2025 without incurring additional salary costs.
This clause was activated today, leading to a formal statement released on the club`s official website this evening.
Milan Confirms Conceicao`s Departure
The statement read: “AC Milan and Sérgio Conceição will not continue their journey together next season.”
The club expressed its thanks: “The Club would like to thank Sérgio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism and dedication shown during their time leading the First Team over the past few months.”
Milan also acknowledged a notable achievement during his short tenure: “The AC Milan family parts with the coach who won the 50th trophy in the Club’s history, wishing him the best for the future.”
Conceicao`s time saw him secure the Supercoppa Italiana in just his second match, orchestrating a comeback from 2-0 down to defeat rivals Inter 3-2 in Saudi Arabia.
However, his spell also included a defeat in the Coppa Italia Final against Bologna and an eighth-place finish in Serie A, resulting in the club failing to qualify for any European competition for the upcoming season.
Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly been chosen as his replacement. He is understood to have signed a contract today for two years, with an option for a third season.
An official announcement welcoming Allegri back to San Siro is widely expected on Friday morning. This marks his return to the club over 11 years after his previous successful period as manager.
